Outcast: A New Beginning, A Sequel To A Game You Might Have Forgotten

If You Were Old Enough To Play Outcast That Is

Outcast’s voxels might have aged poorly, though the remaster from six years ago helps polish it up quite well.  The game was one of the very first open world games that let you explore your surroundings at your own leisure, and is a direct descendant of all of the open world games which exist today.  In many ways it did it better than the modern ones, conversations were far more unique and the NPCs actually had their own behaviours instead of the repetitive actions we see in games now.  The names were a bit much at times, but overall it was the template for the games you love today.  It has been 16 years since it came out, so even if you did play it back then your memories may have faded.

Outcast 2: A New Beginning will be coming out next March and will take up the story where it was left at the end sof the original game.  The developers, some of them from the original team, assure you that you will be able to jump right in even if you aren’t familiar with the first one.  It will also be a refreshing 35 hours long or so, which means you have a change at actually finishing the game and perhaps trying a second time to check out the skills and weapons you missed out on the first time around.
